Song Review - Garbage - No Gods No Masters

REVIEW BY EMERALD VIOLET

Since the mid nineties rock band Garbage have been releasing so many great tracks that we know and love. With 6 studio albums under their belt they get ready to release a brand new album by dropping the titled track “No Gods No Masters” which comes as a follow up track from “The Men Who Rule The World”. Vocalist Shirley Manson is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and express such topics in her songs which I believe to be amazing and that's why I have such respect for her as an artist. People who love this band are heavily dedicated fans and I’m sure the news of the new album has brought them a lot of joy.

A wave of synths hit you from the beginning of this illuminating track and they seep in throughout the entire time which makes for a solid foundation of a song. Guitars and drums are somewhat fast paced as well as Shirley Manson’s vocals. The synth really does go well with the vocals and highlights them in a unique way. Everything about this track is strong and hooks you in from start to finish. Shirley describes the song as “re-imagining our society for the future, for our children and not making the same mistakes over and over again and allowing greed to corrupt our thinking.”

This track is a definite treat for fans and has me very excited for their new album which is due to drop on June 11th. Just after listening to this track I’m already left wanting more - it has lured me in with the instrumentals and lyrics and has been stuck in my head for days which is a good sign that the other songs on the album will be great. If you're a fan of Garbage and haven’t heard this new song yet, you're missing out.
