After a number of months gracing her loyal fans with iconic covers of Green Day, The Offspring and Limp Bizkit, the American star has released a new single, entitled ‘Four Letter Words.’ The track features all the classic K. Flay vibes we’ve come to love from the artist; a mixture of pop punk, hip hop and emo, which has truly helped the singer sit apart from the pack throughout her career.

Opening with an acoustic guitar and light percussion, the musical lines meet K.Flay’s bars for an energetic beginning to the track. This instrumentation continues throughout, leading to a faster, energetic rap part, where it’s clear that this track is an important emotional outlet for the artist.

The angst-ridden lyrical content is definitely reminiscent of that of pop punk and early emo music, but when coupled with the rap stylings of K.Flay’s music, it makes for an enjoyable juxtaposition that isn’t heard much in music nowadays.

Coupled with an equally energetic and emotional music video that features animated monsters and characters that end up in Flay’s backing band, it further illustrates to fans the singer’s knack for originality and dedication to her craft.

This track will feature on the singer’s upcoming EP, Inside Voices.
