Song Review - Papa Roach - 'Cut The Line'

REVIEW BY: Peter Moreman

Lo and behold, beloved rock band Papa Roach have released their newest single, Cut The Line, ahead of their newest album, Ego Trip, set to be released April 8th.

I have been a massive fan of Papa Roach for nearly as long as I can remember. I’ve listened to them for a very long time and have been along for most of the ride, and Cut The Line still has their classic sound that we know and loved, intertwined through it. However, it has changed, but the difference is, it’s changed with them!

What we know and love of Papa Roach still screams through (literally) this track. In the first 30 seconds I was rocking out; I knew already that I loved the song. Those of you that know their signature classic Last Resort, will certainly notice the difference between their albums from the early 2000s to now. Although, I think you will agree with me, the quality has not dropped! We are still getting Jacoby Shaddix screaming his soul out, Dave Buckner slamming those drums like a mad man, and Jerry Horton letting loose on the guitar; all the pieces are still there.

Cut The Line is still very reminiscent of that rock sound we remember from the early 00s. That classic sound that fans which listened to them when they were first kicking off, will still enjoy. Much like songs of those days, and that scene, this song tells a story of people who are messed up and confused. People that don’t really know what to do and don’t truly know who they are. To which I’m referring to the lines of ‘Are you twistin’ up and don’t know why?’ And ‘Are you trapped up in your thoughts’.

Papa Roach still sings of very real things that happen to everyone, regardless of what’s going on. Even if you discounted the lyrics, my god does the music just blows you away. I have listened to it many times now and have found myself completely enthralled with the sound and had nearly forgotten to actually listen.

Check this song out, you won’t be disappointed!
