Sydney Metalcore legends Polaris have just released a brand new video for track “Vagabond” which is off their second album “The Death Of Me” which was released in 2020 and scored #3 on the ARIA album charts and also (scoring) the band an ARIA nomination. Along with the video, the band have also announced some regional tour dates which have fans excited.

“This video has been a long time in the making, and is probably the most ambitious visual project we’ve ever worked on. When we first considered doing a video for ‘Vagabond,’ we knew that the vibrant sunny attitude of the song’s chorus was something we wanted to reflect in the visuals — something a lot brighter than what we’d normally go for.” vocalist/bassist Jake Steinhauser describes.

To summarise my thoughts on the track - it’s honestly filled with sick riffs and great, fast paced drum beats that come together in a way that crashes into a kick ass rhythm that is addictive. To not only top that off, the screams and clean vocals are phenomenal and I can see why this band is doing such great things when they have a badass sound like this. The screams in the verses mixed with the cleaner choruses are perfect, I definitely love to see that mix of heavy and clean in tracks like these.

The video gives off hardcore Mad Max vibes with the band playing in a desert wearing post apocalyptic clothing - which is just so fucking cool to see. Seeing that alone won me over but then to top it off, the visuals are strong and great and the colour tones in the video are so pleasing.

What else can I say? The song is a metalcore fan's wet dream and the video is so good in every way. It’s safe to say that Polaris have always been crushing it and will in fact always continue to crush it. If you haven’t seen the video, definitely check it out!

The Vagabond Tour kicks off on June 10 and is supported by Brisbane post-hardcore band, Deadlights.

Deadlights have gone on to become a household name within the Australian alternative scene supporting acts such as Parkway Drive, Thy Art Is Murder, Every Time I Die, and so many more; dropping ever more creative singles along the way with Bathed In Venom and Sugarcoated Psychosis.
