Song Review - Wolf Alice - Smile

UK based alt-rock band Wolf Alice are back at it again with a brand new second track titled “Smile” which is off their upcoming third album Blue Weekend. We first got a glimpse of this new album when they released “Last Man On Earth” back in February and the sound on that track was absolutely breathtaking. Excited is certainly an understatement for the new album as their last album Visions Of A Life” was an absolute game changer, especially for me, because in all honesty that album changed my life. Throughout life, everyone has that one album that they love from start to finish, the one that means so much to them and for me it was that last album, so the anticipation for Blue Weekend is huge and I’m sure Wolf Alice fans are just as excited.

The whole track is a fuzzed out ride from the start with this incredibly addictive riff that plays throughout the song and instantly makes you become hooked. This is followed by the insanely talented vocals from vocalist Ellie Rowsell that help draw you in and leave you wanting more. “Smile” comes as a totally different sound from the first single that we’ve heard and is somewhat unique in the way that you don’t know what’s next to come. When I close my eyes and listen to this track, I can see this easily being a huge hit at live shows with fans - Yelling the lyrics and headbanging hard to that intoxicating riff.

This is just another incredible track from an incredible band. Wolf Alice never ceases to amaze me with their amazing song writing that just grabs me and pulls me in. There’s no doubt in my mind that this new album is going to be none other than perfect. “Smile” is another song that I will have on repeat throughout the whole year. Go check it out if you haven’t!
