Song Review - Yergurl – ‘Puppy Dog’

REVIEW BY: BEN LAMB

Rejoice! We’ve been gifted a brand new Yergurl track, and it’s a banger. It’s a noticeably different flavour of electronica than we have received previously from the artist, this track opening with an energetic, brooding bass line, coupled with vocals in a different register then we are used to from the talented performer, which truly tops off the track and pulls the listener in.

The different vocal vibe and heavier instrumentation contrast perfectly throughout ‘Puppy Dog’, and it’ll make you want to bop your head. The track builds and moves in interesting ways, taking the listener on a journey that they will never want to end. Perhaps the most exciting thing about this track is that it’s hard to compare this track to another performer, Yergurl is excelling at doing her own thing, and it’s an original brand of music that just works.

And coupled with a video of the performer with some dressed up dogs around Melbourne city streets really adds to the energy and power the song holds. Everything Yergurl has released has been amazing, it’s exciting to see this new direction and gets audiences and fans excited for what’s to come next from the performer.
