You may now Perth-born singer Sydnee Carter from her participation in Season 6 of The X Factor Australia, and her since-then explosion onto the music scene with bangers such as ‘When We Were Young,’ ‘Plans,’ and ‘Monsters.’ It’s no surprise that her talent has only grown as time has passed, and she’s back with another catchy pop anthem that you won’t be able to get out of your head.

‘Drug Was You’ is beautiful from start to finish; Sydnee sings with sincerity you can feel alongside an immensely addictive beat. “I wanted to write a song about longing for a lifetime past, after the love that is supposedly gone,” she said. You can truly hear the longing she speaks of in her voice throughout the track while her sweet voice croons to us about pain can expand into an emotional infatuation.

Sydnee’s alto-pop voice serenades beautifully along the verses, and then bursts out with a bang in the chorus – there’s nothing this girl can’t do. ‘Drug Was You’ showcases her outstanding vocals in a perfect way, soft and strong, sweet and sharp. It’s a crazy catchy pop hit, while still being a wonderful example of Sydnee Carter’s undeniable talents.

This track truly showcases how far she’s come and just how much her talent has grown and evolved. Sydnee Carter could – and will – move mountains with her voice, and we’re excited to watch her do it. ‘Drug Was You’ is a lyrically haunting yet immediately addictive track, and is definitely a song you’ll want on your late night drive playlist.

Dropping January 22nd, check it out when it hits streaming services!
