Do you like the Terminator movies?

Is a sentence I really wasn’t expecting from our Editor. I shook off my initial confusion and responded with a  reluctant “Sure” and that is how I ended up watching A Terminator Fan Film – Terminator No Fate.

Set after Judgements day an elite tech com team is sent to a SAC-NORAD facility by John Connor.

I was pretty committed after the opening scene involved a fairly interesting rendition of paradise city which I can only liken to a wild night I once had at a Karaoke place after 10 too many Soju. Immediately you are drawn in to the world of the rowdy yet loveable characters. Now, I am not the hugest fan of the Terminator films so I suspect some of the plot points may have been a little lost on me but the journey and plot points as a standalone make for a riveting 30min.

As the raucous bunch work the way there way through the mission with wit, comradery and steely determination you become emotionally invested in the characters and feel that inevitable pang of grief when they were (in most cases, quite brutally) killed. I don’t want to give away the plot points because this little piece was a genuine gem and a worthy watch.

The actors were brilliant, relatable and draw you in to the narrative. The whole piece was shot of six days and cost a measly $3600. What has been achieved here is a mini slice of cinematic brilliance on a low budget.
