“Same Bed” is the brand new track from Wollongong band TOTTY. It was released on the 4th of September and follows up from previous track “Fairies” which saw a much more grungier side of the band. This moody track portrays touring and life on the road, travelling different states. The song was released with a video that helps depict that feeling.

The start of this song blew me away with the moody chord progression that reminds me of something from the 90’s and when vocalist Kell starts to sing those engaging lyrics, it really is something else. Backed by an incredible rhythm section, “Same Bed” is a simple but catchy track that is moody and has a punch to it. This band can do no wrong in my eyes with their perfect track record of releases that blow me away more and more each time.

TOTTY are certainly making a name for themselves in the music scene as they have toured with the likes of Slowly Slowly, Ruby Fields, SKEGGS and Hockey Dad just to name a few and have gained many fans through previous releases. This band have a talent for creating good music that you can vibe to and I’m sure fans cannot wait for their new EP to hit in November.

Totty dropped new single and video for “Same Bed”. The new track is an ode to the touring musicians life.

Unlike a lot of songs on the topic this is song steps away from the typical depictions of touring life and paints a picture of the monotony involved in travelling, and repeating the same routine day in and day out.

This song is masterfully put together, lyrically you follow the story and relate to the narrative and the music itself is light and instills a sense of longing and yet content in the listener. Sonically ethereal, the track has a dreamy quality you feel very in the moment when you are listening but you also feel like you could be anywhere.

The true beauty of this track is that it makes you empathetic to the narrative, you feel a sense of nostalgia for something you know took advantage of at the time. The song was written pre-covid and I can only imagine how it would hit just that little bit differently in times like these.

The song just has a really nice feel and being released during the current world's unravelling adding layers of meaning beyond what could have been anticipated. I loved the video, visually addictive. Even if you wanted to mute the sound for some unknown reason you could watch the video. Even in isolation it tells a story and this adds to the power of the song.

I have always loved Totty, they just release relatable, honest and quality music time after time.
