Album Review - SEPULTURA - SepulQuarta

REVIEW BY: BEN LAMB

Sepultura’s latest album SepulQuarta is a lockdown album that shows us why the metallers are some of the best in the world.

Created out of 2020’s never-ending lockdowns, the group “refused to sit back”, so they put their minds to making an album.

The album’s full of the group’s greatest music, featuring some of the world’s best musicians; to name a few - ‘Mask’ features legendary metaller Devin Townsend, Slave New World features Matt Heafy of Trivium, and the finale track, ‘Orgasmtron’ features Phil Campbell of Motorhead.

One of the best feature moments comes on ‘Vandal’s Nest’ featuring guitarist Alex Skolnick of Testament, a track that’ll make your replay button get worn out fast.

The other tracks like ‘Territory’, ‘Cut-Throat’, ‘Phantom Self’ and ‘Hatred Aside’ are full of that smooth metal we’ve come to love from Sepultura over the years.

The album dives into all areas of the band, back from the early Cavelera days to the music of the current group.

These feature musicians giving the songs a flare that makes them distinctly Sepultura.

Sepultura’s SepulQuarta is out now via Nuclear Blast.

"The 'SepulQuarta' album is probably the one I am most proud of!", mastermind Andreas Kisser reflects. "2020 was the most difficult time for a band to survive, without the stage and the direct contact with the fans, but we managed to keep going strong and the album is a consequence of the unity plus the positive attitude from the band. The album sounds great, alive and very real! All the guests did an amazing job and we feel more than ever that we have a huge Sepultura family out there. Thank you so much for everyone’s support and hope to see you all soon. This album is for you! Enjoy the music!"
