New York based alternative-rock band The Pretty Reckless have absolutely crushed it with their brand new album “Death By Rock And Roll”. This will be their fourth studio album that follows their 2016 release “Who You Selling For” that featured the track “Take Me Down” which earned the band their fourth number 1 on the US rock charts.

We first got a taste of the new album when the band released the lead track “Death By Rock And Roll” back in May 2020 which gained amazing response from listeners with it’s catchy riff and great song writing. Since then, they have dropped tracks like “And So It Went”, “Broomsticks”, and “25” that are equally as great as each other. Fans have been patiently waiting during the 5 year gap between albums and I can tell you know - it was worth the wait.

The album kicks off with “Death By Rock And Roll” which as I said previously, we got a taste of back in May 2020. This track is honestly the perfect way to start the album off as it has those original tones from back in the early days of The Pretty Reckless and it is just a well-written rock song which I know that fans love and appreciate. The track is so catchy and you’ll find yourself singing and rocking out to it. It’s followed by “Only Love Can Save Me Now” which is an absolute treat from start to finish with it’s punchy guitar riffs and Taylor Momsen’s low, raw vocals that I love. The chorus in this track is so catchy and is bound to get stuck in your head for days which makes it a highlight track for the album and one hell of a rock and roll song. “And So It Went” sees some fierce and powerful vocals from Taylor with some hard hitting drums while “25” is a slower song with softer vocals while still keeping the vibe of rock and roll.

“My Bones'' comes in strong with heavy guitars and drums along with those great vocals that have been heard throughout the whole album. The next track “Got So High” is another slow song with acoustic guitar and softer vocals that throws out huge 90’s grunge/alt rock vibes that are so great. The chorus has some amazing vocal harmonies that really are a highlight of the song - that mixed with these 90’s vibes really makes for a quality track that I’m sure fans will fall in love with. “Broomsticks' ' throws out spooky vibes whereas “Witches Burn' ' again reminds me of an alt rock track that was released back in the 90’s, with it’s fuzzed guitars, solid drum beat and the grungy vocals.

We are then gifted with another slow song “Standing At The Wall” which is filled with the finger picking of an acoustic guitar and low vocals followed by “Turning Gold” which again has those OG vibes from the band especially in the melody and the way it’s written. The last two tracks on the album “Rock And Roll Heaven” and “Harley Darling” - both tracks are different from the rest as they bring this old school rock sound mixed with country tones to create these unique mellow songs that listeners will appreciate.

This whole album is none other than perfect. Not only do we get great slower songs that keep that rock and roll vibe, but we get those hard hitting rock songs that give us some of that original Pretty Reckless sound while still being unique in itself. You can tell that they have really stepped up their game with this album as it’s filled with catchy guitar riffs, powerful vocals, well-written lyrics and sick guitar solos that absolutely shred. So overall, The Pretty Reckless punch back with these hard hitting, heavy tracks that prove that rock and roll is still well and truly alive.
