I is the first EP from Brisbane artist Danni, her unique blend of electronica, neo soul and pop makes for a great release.

Opening with ‘What You Want,’ we’re immediately opened up to Danni’s unique songwriting approach, which helps bring the listener in and take them on the journey throughout this album. The track opens with vocals and a light synth lines, the perfect starting point for ‘I’. This unique neo soul and somewhat dreampop blend continues throughout the next through tracks, ‘Out of My Mind’ and ‘Breathe,’ the vocals in the latter giving off vibes of early 80’s and 90’s vocalists, truly making for an intriguing song indeed. ‘Never Enough’ gives us a great opportunity to experience Danni’s lyrical prowess, and her commitment and emotion is heard throughout the vocals, showing the listener how much this song means to her. The synth sounds return, grounding the track, and continuing throughout.

We then get to ‘Don’t Touch My Heart,’ an amalgamation of many different genres, that culminates in a really great point in the album. The track slowly builds up to a point where we hear booming rums and percussion, giving a darker ambience to the piece, once again, helping convey the emotion and the power of the song.

The EP closes with ‘Blinded’ and ‘Don’t Speak My Name’ The latter featuring vocalist Graham the Grand, who almost acts as an opposite to Danni, which helps contrast the track perfectly, and makes for the perfect conclusion to the EP.
